This barbeque salmon recipe is a dynamite meal that is easy to prep, cook, and cleanup. You don’t need a lot of ingredients or complex procedures so this makes it easy and quick. You would not think to add mustard in a salmon recipe but it is a great flavor, give it a try I’m sure you will enjoy. This is one of our go-to recipes a tried and true favorite. I learned this recipe from my Grampa. Here he is preparing the barbeque salmon after a successful day out on the water.
Barbeque Salmon Ingredients
wild salmon
lemon juice (or vinegar)
mustard (prepared or Dijon)
brown sugar
tinfoil
mustard seeds (optional)
red pepper cut into 1cm cubes (optional)
Barbeque Prep
preheat barbeque full bore 5-10mins to remove any grease
then set barbeque medium heat around 350
take a piece of tinfoil large enough to hold both fillets
fold up edges of foil 1″ all around and seal corners, to make a “boat” that will hold all drippings
Barbeque Salmon Prep
fillet the salmon and wash, leave skin on
Cooking Method
place foil on barbeque
place fillets on foil skin down
sprinkle lemon juice on fillets
let cook 2-4mins
spread mustard on fillets use a long handle fork, watch the heat or might singe hands
keep cooking 2-4 more minutes
come back and sprinkle brown sugar on top
optional – Sprinkle mustard seeds red peppers cubes on top for color
cook 2-4 more minutes until done.
note: do not flip over ever
Use a spatula to remove the fish, the salmon skin will stick to the foil and the meat will lift off clean

Notes
Total cooking time depends on thickness of fillets, generally 10-15mins
Check with fork by opening the meat should change from dark red to pink when it is cooked
There is a fine line between perfect salmon, and dry overcooked so watch closely
You can also do the this recipe in the oven on a cookie tray, be sure to use the tinfoil.
