For the Prince Rupert Fishing 2012 season we returned to Prince Rupert ready for an epic trip. On board we had Neal, Oak, Travis and myself (Ryan). After waiting out the winter and planning our trip, we were excited to get back out to Prince Rupert. The trip was excellent and had alot of good westcoast fishing action.
Salmon Fishing
We headed out from Prince Rupert and fished three areas this year, Edye Pass, Dundas Island, and Work Channel. Its worth it in Prince Rupert to cruise around and check out the different areas to locate the fish. We had alot of salmon in the teens and twenties with our big fish this trip in at about 24lb.
The Codfather
With the new halibut regulations coming into effect for 2011, we had to conform with the over-under size limit. We started fishing a new hali hole and it was producing alot of smaller halibut so we were happy to get our limit on the chickens. At the same time we did some drift fishing at one of our favourite lingcod holes and we had a great haul bringing back our limit of tasty lingcod. Oak had been leading the commentary during the trip about Travis’ ability to catch rockfish and lings and developed the now trademarked “IronCod Status” defined as having caught and landed a cod every single day during the trip. This feat was impressively accomplished by Travis on the trip. He also caught the biggest lings of the trip and we deemed him “The Codfather”.
